Things To Do
The best bit abut going somewhere new is the chance to explore. We've pulled together some suggestions of what's right on our doorstep, and be sure to ask our reception team for their recommendations too.
Biggar is a historic market town on the northern edge of the Southern Uplands. A royal burgh since 1451, Biggar still retains its medieval layout. The main street is lined with centuries-old houses and Biggar Kirk dates from the 16th century. Biggar has associations with various historical figures, including William Wallace and Bonnie Prince Charlie. The fictional Midculter, which features in Dorothy Dunnett's Lymond Chronicles novels, is set here.
Biggar Golf Club
A perfect place for any golf lovers staying at Tinto House, the course record is held by 99’ Open Champion Paul Lawrie, so you’re in pretty high profile company. A fairly flat course, you are surrounded by breath taking scenery on every tee.
